A quick guide to help you decide when to act and how urgently. When in doubt, call your care team or 911.
Call 911 or go to the ER immediately
- Vomiting blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
- Black, tarry, or bloody stool
- Sudden severe abdominal pain
- Loss of consciousness or inability to wake
- Severe confusion, disorientation, or agitation — signs of hepatic encephalopathy
- Difficulty breathing at rest
Call your oncologist or care team today
- Fever above 38 °C / 100.4 °F
- New or worsening yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)
- Significant unintended weight loss over a few days
- New or rapidly increasing swelling in legs, ankles, or abdomen
- Unable to keep fluids or medications down for more than 24 hours
- Unusual bruising or bleeding that won't stop

- Mild, manageable fatigue
- Decreased appetite without major weight loss
- Mild nausea that passes on its own
- Dull aching or discomfort near the tumor site
- Minor skin changes or mild itching
- Sleep difficulties or mood changes
